Boiler Tube Maintenance Training System Plus

Model: 240-PAC

The Scotch marine boiler is a particular type of fire-tube steam boiler most often used on ships. The typical design features a squat, horizontal cylinder with one or more large cylindrical furnaces in the lower part of the boiler shell.

Above the furnace area are a large number of small-diameter fire tubes. Hot flue gases pass through these tubes, which are set within a tank of water.

DAC Worldwide’s Boiler Tube Maintenance Training System Plus (240-PAC) is a heavy-duty unit perfect for either classroom or lab training. Users will gain critical hands-on skills in the removal and installation of fire tubes in fire-tube boilers.

The 240-PAC includes the following:

  • #240 - Boiler Tube Maintenance Trainer
  • #240-010 - Rolling Machine
  • #240-011 - 3/4" Square Drive Adapter
  • #240-013 - Beading Expander
  • #240-016 - Pneumatic Hammer
  • #240-017 - Pneumatic Hammer Accessories
  • #240-018 - HD Disk/Angle Grinder
  • #240-019 - Replacement Disks for Angle Grinder

The Boiler Tube Maintenance Training System’s design is based upon the geometry of and materials used in common makes and models of Scotch marine boilers. This allows learners to practice fire-tube maintenance repeatedly without harming real equipment or requiring a full-size Scotch marine boiler, making boiler repair training more efficient, productive, and professional.

Industry-Standard Components Provide Realistic, Hands-On Training

Technical training is most effective when learners can gain hands-on practice with industry-standard components they’ll encounter on the job. The Boiler Tube Maintenance Training System features common, industrial-quality components to provide learners with a realistic training experience that will build skills that translate easily to the workplace.

The Boiler Tube Maintenance Training System is a sturdy unit that features heavy-duty steel construction throughout. For realistic training, the trainer includes two ¾” tubesheets with 26 2-9/16” penetrations on a 45-degree diagonal pitch of 3.54” and longitudinal interval of 5” (SA 516-70 plate).

Other industrial-standard features and components include: removable sheet metal cowling to hamper access to area between tubesheets; representative stay rods; 2.5”-diameter, SA-178 ERW (annealed) tubes; 1/16” and 1/32” wall copper ferrules; “boiler nails”; and an IPT metal trades training manual with a section on tube installation/rolling.

Expand Training Capabilities with Custom Options

Developed in cooperation with experienced boiler repair companies, the Boiler Tube Maintenance Training System can be customized with a broad range of specialized “tools of the trade,” all chosen based on years of “hands-on” experience. In industry, one size rarely fits all and this trainer can be tailor-made to your exact needs.

Some of the available options include: dye penetrant kit; rolling machine; beading, straight, and flaring expanders; pneumatic hammer with accessories; heavy-duty disk/angle grinder; and heavy-duty end grinder with wheel.
