Coupling/Shaft Alignment Plus

Model: 208-PAC

DAC Worldwide’s Coupling/Shaft Alignment Plus (208-PAC) is a heavy-duty, precision learning aid that allows for convenient, realistic training in shaft alignment. When paired with a variety of hands-on exercises, the training system creates a complete performance-based course in the maintenance of shaft alignment. The package includes:

  • Coupling/Shaft Alignment Trainer (208-000)
  • Tool Kit, Shaft Alignment (208-001)
  • Standard Shim Kit (208-003)
  • Steel Grid Coupling, Coupling/Shaft Alignment (208-005)
  • Elastomeric Element Coupling, Coupling/Shaft Alignment (208-007)
  • Jaw and Spider Coupling, Coupling/Shaft Alignment (208-014)
  • Magnetic Base/Dial Indicator Set (208-015)

The Coupling/Shaft Alignment Plus is designed based on the dimensions of a common ANSI centrifugal pump, and allows for training using all common alignment techniques and tools. With each element having adjustment capabilities to create unique alignment problems, this learning system offers a complete training experience in this fundamental industrial bearing maintenance.

Learners will use industrial-grade components to study topics such as using a dial indicator in coupling/shaft alignment, coupling alignment using the reverse dial indicator method, fabrication of shaft keys, and installing a flexible disc coupling. Not only do the components provide durability to stand up to frequent use, but they also aide learners in becoming better prepared for the tasks they will encounter on the job.

Practice Hands-On Mechanical Skills for Various Applications

The Coupling/Shaft Alignment Plus features a heavy-duty, 7-gauge steel baseplate with provision for tabletop mounting. It includes flanged bearings, fasteners, shafts, and ¾” diameter shafting with keyways. It also comes with four (4) steel pads, an Allen wrench set, combination wrenches, and more.

The Tool Kit, Shaft Alignment comes with two (2) CNC-machined shaft bracket sets, two (2) sets of clamp attachment studs, four (4) dial indicator support bars, four (4) dial indicator attachment bars, four (4) swivel clamps, two (2) Starrett universal dial test indicators, and many more useful tools to aid in industrial training.

The Standard Shim Kit includes ten (10) shims each – of 13 different thicknesses – each accurate within +/- .001”. Made of durable, corrosion-resistant stainless steel that is permanently marked with both nominal thickness and actual thickness information, the kit is perfect for use in the training lab or by the working maintenance professional in the field.

The Steel Grid Coupling, Coupling/Shaft Alignment expands the usefulness of DAC Worldwide training products related to shaft alignment and coupling alignment. The device, which has a ¾” bore, is known for accepting/accommodating moderate shock loads, and often contributes to solving problems related to torsional vibrations in rotating machinery.

The Elastomeric Element Coupling, Coupling/Shaft Alignment shares the same ¾” bore as the Steel Grid Coupling and is common in industry due to its lubrication-free design, ease in assembly, and its ability to compensate for several types of misalignments.

The Jaw and Spider Coupling, Coupling/Shaft Alignment allows some small degree of angular, and parallel, misalignment between shafts. This coupling also works in compression, and is known for accepting/accommodating large amounts of torque in rotating machinery.

Finally, the Magnetic Base/Dial Indicator Set facilitates a variety of critical measurement tasks and machinery checks associated with mechanical maintenance.

Courseware Takes Learning to the Next Level

In addition to hands-on training, DAC Worldwide’s Coupling/Shaft Alignment Plus comes with courseware, which is useful in both an instructor-led or self-directed format. The courseware includes a textbook with chapters on coupling and alignment techniques, as well as twenty (20) illustrated, hands-on exercises. Some of the exercises locating and correcting soft foot, assembling a chain-type coupling, installing a universal joint coupling, and much more!

Expand Training with Additional Mechanical Options

The Coupling/Shaft Alignment Plus is only one of DAC Worldwide’s expansive mechanical training systems. Other related equipment includes a Belt Drive Training System (201-000), a Gear Maintenance Training System (205-000), and many more!

Student Training Manual and Textbook Available

A copy of this course’s Student Training Manual and Textbook is available with the training system. Sourced from the Exercises and Learning Activities, the Student Training Manuals takes the technical content contained in the learning objectives, and combines it into one perfectly-bound book. If you would like to inquire about purchasing additional Student Training Manuals for your program, please contact your local DAC Worldwide Representative for more information.
