Y-type strainers mechanically remove solids from flowing liquids and gases by incorporating a removable wire mesh or perforated straining element. Capable of withstanding significant pressures, the device commonly used to protect heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and other valuable process equipment.

This realistic, sectioned, example of a y-type strainer, typifies those commonly found in petro-chemical plants, refineries and other similar industrial environments, and supports training relating to industrial, commercial, and domestic process systems.

The device includes a formed-steel mounting assembly, allowing for stand-alone display, bench-top mounting, or mounting on specialized related mounting benches, and display structures.

Through careful sectioning, the complete internal configuration and flow path of the strainer can be seen, while allowing for disassembly for more compete inspection. All primary features have been retained and replacement hardware has been provided where appropriate.
