A versatile, precision-machined, rotating device for demonstrating the causes and effects of vibration in industrial rotating machinery. The device allows for isolation of individual, vibration-causing variables in order to distinguish and identify their unique signatures. A permanent magnet DC motor with RPM pick-up and display is included in the standard configuration. A t-slotted, modular work surface, coupled with a system of indexing pins and CNC-machined pillow blocks allow for convenient and accurate re-configuration, while maintaining alignment and consistent shaft location. This expanded assembly includes a jack-shaft allowing for study of belt drives and gear drives. A right-angle gear reducer, adjustable magnetic brake, and connecting arm/linear slide mechanism is provided, expanding the device’s usefulness and allowing for experimentation with specialized vibration-causing problems. This product, and its associated Use/Exercise Guide allows for foundation training in vibration cause/effect, balancing and data collection techniques. A range of modular options allows for use in demonstrating less-common vibration causes and specialty topics both in the industrial setting, and within the academic environment.
